Booroomba Rocks
Namadgi National Park, ACT
June 2022
We have really been missing hiking and getting out for adventures so we decided last minute to head up to Booroomba Rocks early on a Saturday morning for a family adventure. Booroomba Rocks is located in Namadgi National Park and is just under an hour to drive there. We just missed the sunrise but managed to catch a bit colour from the side of the road. We parked at the carpark to begin the short 2.5km return walk. With Poppy strapped in to the carrier (we didn't have a hiking carrier at this stage so we just used our Baby Bjorn carrier on the back which she didn't love but it did the job) we started the walk up to the viewpoint. The walk itself if pretty easy and well maintained which meant we could take in more of the surroundings. The landscape is beautiful with some regrowth from the bushfires, plenty of grasses and there was even a little bit of snow. At the top the granite cliffs give you panoramic views across the Brindabella Ranges. We found a clearing among the trees to stop for a snack before heading back to the car.
You can also make it a longer walk if you start from Honeysuckle campground, but we just drove to the campground to have an early lunch and let Poppy have a run around before the drive home.
Check the status of the walking tracks here to make sure the trail is open.
