Sugar Pine Walk

1 June 2019

For the first day of winter we decided to go on a road trip to the Sugar Pine Walk in Laurel Hill, NSW. Walking among these giants felt like another world, dwarfed by giant trees, every footstep softened by the carpet of pine needles. This small protected section of Sugar Pines was planted in 1928 and you really have to experience it for yourself. Sugar Pines are the tallest pines in the world and they also have the largest cones of any conifer. The walk itself is only 500m, but with such a scenic drive (only 2.5hrs from Canberra) it was definitely worth the trip.

Note: Due to the devastating 2019-20 bushfire season the Sugar Pine Walk is now closed. Please do not visit. Find more information on the Forestry Corporation website here.
