Hello, I’m Lauren

You can usually find me with a camera in my hand, capturing the special in between moments, the small details, the perfect imperfections. The moments you might not think anything of but will instantly bring you back to that time. I’m not big on posing, instead I love capturing the unplanned and authentic moments, especially when they are a bit out of focus, freezing a moment in time.

I have been a creative person for a long as I can remember, always planning, designing, drawing and making. I have a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Interior Architecture, however I am entirely self taught in photography. When I’m not taking photos, I am usually spending time with my family, playing with our dog, drinking tea, out in the garden or working on a new project.

In 2014, after moving to Tasmania with my husband, I discovered a deeper appreciation for finding beauty in my surroundings and a desire to document this through photography. I started to look through my camera with different eyes and began to use photography as a means of telling a story through images, capturing details in nature and documenting everyday life.

In 2018 myself and my husband quit our jobs to travel around the UK and Europe for just over 6 months in a van called Matilda. I found so much inspiration while travelling and further developed my photography style. You can read more about our trip here.

I am currently based in my hometown Canberra, Australia. When I moved back in 2019 I started a series called the Canberra Creatives Project. I felt the need to connect with other local creatives and I wanted to tell their story, giving some insight into how they started, their processes, inspiration and future plans.

I was a finalist in the National Photographic Portrait Prize in 2022 with a self portrait with my daughter.
